Total Dhamaal song Mungda: Akshay Kumar shares the track with 'two of his favourites' - Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha and it is just passable

The song features Sonakshi Sinha and Ajay Devgn grooving to the beats of the 1978 classic song which featured Helen

We can safely say that Akshay Kumar is a healthy mix of a great friend, pure professional and an ardent social worker. The actor who was last seen attending the screening of Sonam Kapoor's Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, also shared a shared a post about the 30th National Road Safety Week yesterday on his Twitter account. And today, Akki has shared a track from Total Dhamaal which was revealed by the makers with the actor's help. Along with the video of the track, Akshay wrote, "When two of your favourites @sonakshisinha and @ajaydevgn come together to recreate your favourite song #Mungda, it is nothing less than #TotalDhamaal! Have a look." Here's the post:

The song, titled Mungda, features Sonakshi Sinha and Ajay Devgn and is the remake of the 1978 classic by the same title which featured veteran actress Helen. It is a zingy version with a lot of added pop background score and almost reminds you of a remix from the 90's. Sung by Jyotica Tangri, Shaan, and Subhro Ganguly and re-arranged by Gourov-Roshin, additional lyrics have been penned by Kunwar Juneja. The choreography is average with the hook step not being very appealing and Sonakshi's two outfits - peacock green and gold, don't do much for the actress who has toned her body to get a mind-blowing figure. The setting resembles a house party cum club when it's about to shut and all lights have been put on to indicate that guests need to leave. And with a ton of background dancers, Sona seems to get lost at times. Ajay's entry doesn't do anything either as that too has fallen flat. All in all. An average remix of a classic that shouldn't have been touched at all in the first place.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar seems to be in a really friendly mood these days, promoting songs of his fellow actors. It was just a few days back that Akshay featured in a video with Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon, teasing their song Yeh Khabar Chapwa Do from their upcoming film Luka Chuppi. The song, too, is a remake of Akshay's song from his 1997 film Aflatoon which also starred Urmila Matondkar.
Talking about Total Dhamaal, the film features an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi, Riteish Deshmukh, Johny Lever and Sanjai Mishra in key roles. It is set to hit the screens on February 22.
BL take:The track can qualify as an average dance number but for fans of Helen and Rajesh Roshan's original music, it is some badly repurposed work that could have been handled in a much better way. The only saving grace in this one is Sonakshi's ravishing figure and high energy.
